The NT-GDZS guide cable on a reel is used by the GDZS link as the main track cable when moving in conditions of limited visibility.

5.1.1 The basic equipment set for a gas and smoke protection service unit must include:
for each gas and smoke protection device:
- personal protective equipment for the respiratory system and vision (hereinafter referred to as PPE) - a compressed air breathing apparatus (hereinafter referred to as CABA) or a compressed oxygen breathing apparatus (hereinafter referred to as COBA);
- special protective clothing (firefighter's combat clothing (hereinafter referred to as FFC);
- foot protection (leather or rubber shoes);
- hand protection equipment (mittens or gloves (hereinafter referred to as PPP);
- head protection equipment (fire helmet, fireman's balaclava);
- safety equipment (fire rescue belt with fire carabiner);
- hand-held non-mechanized tool (fire axe in a holster);
- devices for signaling the immobility of gas and smoke protection devices (radio beacon or sound beacon);
- means of lighting the work place (individual fire lamp);
additionally for one of the gas and smoke protection units of the GDZS link :
- means of communication (radio station or intercom);
- means of marking the route of gas and smoke protection personnel in an environment unsuitable for breathing (trailing rope);
- self-rescue means (fire rescue rope or fire rope-descent device, insulating fire self-rescuers for gas and smoke protection workers);
- fire-fighting equipment and fire extinguishing means (a working hose line with a shut-off nozzle attached to it or a fire extinguisher);
- non-mechanized tool for carrying out special work during a fire (light crowbar, tool for opening doors and opening structures);
- means of lighting the area (group fire lantern).
